This airship, called The Spiridon, is said to be the most deadly thing that ever sailed the great blue. It had originally been a prototype H.A.W.K ship armed with the kind of technology one read about in stories. Before it even left its carrier for its first test flight, the first Pirate King – Halo Riggs – caught wind of its production after him and his crew had raided and commandeered a H.A.W.K ship. Halo then went about looking to grab the ship for himself, but when he realized how tightly guarded the ship was, he decided to enlist the help of the great pirate captains of the time.
As the legend goes, Captain Riggs found out that the ship could only be operational if it had seven keys that were owned by H.A.W.K commanders. Riggs rallied six other pirate captains to grab the keys, promising each that they would share in The Spiridon’s weapons and technology. They succeeded, and for many years the seven great pirate captains used The Spiridon to rule the skies for a short time. However, they soon got greedy, and thus began to kill each other off so that only one captain could own all seven keys. Each Captain hid the key they stole, so that another pirate captain could never find it and take The Spiridon for themselves. When it came down to the last two captains, Jacqueline Perdi and Bartholomew Rivers, Jacqueline supposedly crashed The Spiridon into the ocean so that no one else could get their hands on the ship that inspired so much bloodshed.
Even though pirates tell this legend as a way to warn others of the consequences of greed and power, there are those who believe the keys and The Spiridon are still out there ready for the taking. Many pirates and those who believe in the legend have killed for those keys, and there are those who have dedicated their lives to finding the keys so that one day they could own the power of The Spiridon.
