RACE: human AGE: twenty-four GENDER: female SEXUALITY: bisexual RESIDENCE: nomadic - she usually just takes wherever she can get in terms of lodging, no matter where she is. OCCUPATION: mercenary PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION REFLECTION: rainer measures 5'6" from head to toe. she has a lithe, fit build akin to that of an acrobat which weighs her in at 132 pounds. as a rule she tries to stay within three pounds of this weight, although this is difficult with her often unhealthy and unconscientious eating habits. as compensation, though, rainer tries to exercise just as much as she eats - because of this she has toned arms, legs, and a slim waist. but, she actually works out almost obsessively at the first sign of chub at her gut; rainer has very - let's call them - modest breasts and hips, so her waist is her only saving grace from being nothing but a shapeless washboard. indeed, rainer is a bit of a vain one when it comes to her body, but only because her livelihood depends so much on its fitness. however, perhaps because she pours so much of her focus onto it, she often neglects her other features. not that she minds. rainer has always had good self-esteem. despite the imperfections, she has never had much issue with her face. her round, heavily lashed, blue eyes are arguably the most striking part of her heart-shaped visage. as for the rest of her facial features, her rounded nose is a bit large, and her lips are a bit thin, but they are proportionate to one another so it balances in the end. as for her skin and hair, rainer has also never cared too much about either. as a result her skin is often rather dry and rough. she also almost always has a light tan as well, since she spends a lot of her time out under the sun. due to her lifestyle she often has a variety of scratches, scrapes and bruises decorating her arms. as far as permenant features go, she has several piercings on her ears - one on each lobe, and three in the cartilege of each. another self-imposed modification she possesses is a solid tattoo of a black spiral on the round of her right shoulder. there is also a long, faded scar that runs across her back from the middle towards her left hip. rainer doesn't care too much about disclosing the stories behind them if asked, although her hair often keeps it hidden from sight. after all it flows all the way to her hips in a thick, slightly wavy river of dark red that ends in small, spiralled curls. while it is tied back when necessary, she usually keeps it in the same style everyday. her uneven bangs are slightly left from the middle, and as a whole they sweep to the right. the hair around her bangs are messy as well, and flare outwards, especially a large tuft on the left side of her head. she also always creates a long, thin braid on the left side of her face as well. PERSONALITY AND MORE THE GOOD: rainer has an almost disturbingly sunny disposition for someone in her rather messy line of work. she is quite outgoing most of the time, and is always open to a friendly chat with anyone, anytime - just not about anything related to her job. when it's concerning anything else, she is usually easy to talk to. generally she is a social butterfly who thrives on good company, good laughs and good times. as such, she is usually quite affectionate in general. these types of expressions are often both physical and verbal. they are often in abundance when she has deemed someone to be a friend. and when it comes to liking people, rainer never has much trouble. she is quite accepting of others about most things, largely due to her own less-than-respectable life as a mercenary. she feels that she has no right not to accept others, what with the things she has done and probably will do. thus, rainer rarely rejects someone for their personality flaws, no matter how severe they are. however, what she doesn't accept so readily is mistreatment. whether it is herself or someone else at the receiving end, she is often quick to take the role of a defender. while this has often landed her in trouble and/or pain, she still stands up for people (off the job, at least) almost unfailingly. the fact that rainer has quite the unshakable will helps a lot with this. it is rather difficult to get in her way, with words or otherwise. in her line of work rainer has both seen and done a handful of awful things, which has toughened her considerably and made frightening her a rather lofty task. THE BAD: rainer, bright personality and all, is still in her business for a reason. several, actually. aside from the obvious financial motivations, rainer actually enjoys her job a fair bit - especially the messy ones. simply put, she is a bit sadistic. while she dislikes seeing others treated badly, this only applies to those whom she sees as innocents. when it comes to a target or other 'wrongdoer', she greatly enjoys seeing them in pain, particularly by her hand. this is a possible reason why she so readily jumps into confrontations or general trouble. any opportunity to inflict a bit of pain on someone 'deserving' is a good opportunity in her eyes. however, due to her lack of self-control, her sadism can get out of hand very easily. but even in general she has issues controlling herself. she is easily carried away with her actions and her words, often to an annoying or even dangerous point. a prime example of this lies in her arrogance. rainer is confident in herself and her abilities - but just a little too much. the reality is that her skills are a far cry from outstanding. yet her ego has been inflated over the years to the point of sheer cockiness. still, due to her unwavering mind she maintains the same level of overconfidence, even after she has been bested. but, in some way, she sort of has to. while she isn't heartless - she does care about people around her, to a degree - she is selfish. she looks out for herself primarily and, if faced with a decision to either benefit herself or others, she would not hesitate to help herself first. in her lifestyle she has no room for self-sacrifice, insecurities or hesitations. since she operates this way, she is also rather callous. when it comes to the problems of others, she is quite unsympathetic. being also frank and blunt in her opinions, she often will not hesitate to straight out tell someone to simply "suck it up". BELIEF: rainer doesn't care much for religion or gods at all - she can't see how faith can ever benefit her, nor can she bring herself to believe in any of the "hocus pocus" that people tell her. she is concerned most with the present and future around her, and nothing more. she believes that the world is run by people alone, and that the most of the population is made of relatively decent, tolerable people. LIKES AND HOBBIES: rainer, for the most part, is an agreeable and pretty simple person. it is much easier to list the things she dislikes than all things she enjoys. but as far as hobbies go, rainer doesn't have the luxury for too many sophisticated passtimes. like many others, she enjoys watching hovercraft racing and especially likes it because of her father. other than that she often spends her time exploring her surroundings and becoming familiar with little nooks, crannies and shortcuts. if she is particularly bored, she will sometimes look for a bit of a fight, but if she has the resources she will almost always... make jewellery. rainer loves jewellery. she adores everything from the shiny to the downright scary, as long as it is made well. another thing she especially enjoys is food. she loves to eat, and she loves to try new things. in fact, experimentation is both something she likes and she often does in many walks of her life. this applies especially to physical activity. she is always open to trying a new kind of workout in addition to her tried and true routines. some of her usual activities include jogging, wrestling (if she can find a partner) and flexibility exercises. DISLIKES AND TURN-OFFS: there are a handful of things in the world that really push rainer's buttons. one thing she particularly dislikes is the abuse of power and the unbased maltreatment of innocent people that often follows it. she also tends to hold people who complain about their problems in disdain, especially if they don't seem to do much about them. since both these things are often seen among the paticularly rich and powerful, she also has a distinct distaste for most noblility. while she may not always show it (she knows how to practice self-control if money is at stake) and while she accepts them as people, she still holds a certain prejudice against the wealthy. part of this dislike stems (even unconsciously) from the control they so often have over her life. she greatly dislikes having rules imposed on her life, and thus does not enjoy those who are responsible for these rules. aside from those things, though, there are a couple of trivial things that rainer does not hold in favour either. one example is clothing. on a regular basis she doesn't wear too much - not the wisest thing, considering her rowdy habits - because she finds clothes to be too restricting on her body. so, unless she has to, she minimizes how much material she has on. rainer also is not much of a fan of reading. she never found books to be too interesting or to be a good way to spend time, not when there was always so much to do elsewhere. ASPIRATIONS: rainer is just trying to survive. while she would like to settle down in one place one day, she is unlikely to ever achieve this dream. so, for the time, she simply rides along the flow of life, making ends meet from day to day. LOOKING BACK: she remembers the past but never allows herself to do so for very long. while there are some bright spots in her history, it - like many others from The Down Below - is not the sunniest of stories. though, her history is rosier in most in that her father, after pouring nearly his entire life into becoming a Class S racer, finally obtained a noble sponsor. the day that the news they were granted Elysian citizenship was arguably the happiest in her life until then. actually moving to The Upside was another fond memory indeed. try as she may, rainer will never forget the bright optimism she had for her mother's recovery. she will never forget how she believed so strongly that her sickly mother would get better, since they were moving into a better environment. and she will also never forget the crushing feeling of having those hopes and dreams annihilated by reality. the next brightside she remembers is discarding her old life of entertaining and waiting on nobles with her father and taking on a new one as a mercenary. while she acknowledged she would still be serving nobility often, the benefits of doing a job that suited, interested and (comparitively) liberated her were too good to pass up. the rest from there are simply blurs of more insignificant events in the banks of her memory.
