Karma is something a character must earn through the game. NOTE: You are not restricted to using The Reputation System. If you don’t want your character to advance, then that’s absolutely fine. However, if you want your character to have a high-ranking title, be in the counsel if they’re a nobleman, or become a leader of a group then they must follow this system. However, earning KP can still help your character even if they aren't following a ranking system.HOW TO EARN KARMA,Earning karma is very simple. All you have to do is post in character. For the first five posts in a thread, you will earn five karma points. Keep in mind that these all need to be different characters that your character must interact with. HOW TO REDEEM KARMA,You can redeem karma by posting the correct code directly on the karma redemption thread! BUYING RANKS,You are actually not so much as buying ranks and titles as you are claiming them. ‘Buying’ anything from the shop does not actually subtract karma from your account. Rather, karma is accumulative and you build upon it until you reach the desired rank. ON DEAD THREADS,If someone you were role playing with to help earn karma disappears, drops out, or otherwise leaves you high and dry then the posts that you did write – each worth one karma point - can still be redeemed. So, let’s say you posted three times with someone and then they decide to quit the site. Head on over to the karma redemption thread to be sure you get your just dues and help keep the site clean. ON MULTIPLE CHARACTERS IN THREADS,When you are responding to two or more players, then the first five posts you make are worth as many karma points as there are players. For instance, say you are posting with two other players and you post five times: 5 posts x 2 other players = 10 total KP. Your first five points will add up to ten karma points instead of the normal five because of the extra player. This rule only applies when there are different players in a thread. It does not count if your character is responding to two or more characters played by the same player. If an additional player joins your thread later on, after you've already redeemed your karma, you will only receive one additional karma point for each time you post from that point on. |

Basically, the higher the karma of a noble then the richer and more influential they are considered in the game. Specialty ranks include Counsel Members (25 KP) and Speakers of the Counsel (50 KP), both of which require the citizens of the Above to vote on acceptance into the counsel. The highest noble rank is that of the Monarch (80 KP). To attain the rank, however a site-wide vote will be held to decide if the character will be the new ruler of the Above; a character may only be eligible, however, if they have purchased the Duke or Duchess rank from the Karma Shop. A player makes the choice of whether or not they want their character put up to vote as the next monarch of Elysia. Furthermore, you do not have to ‘purchase’ any title for your character that you do not want to, though some titles have pre-requisites that must be attained before hand. Characters may join NOT join the nobles mid-game, as they are born into their titles. Exceptions may be granted for plot purposes and awarded by staff members. FOR GANGSTERS,Karma represents how powerful and notorious you are as a gangster. The higher your karma, the more well-known and feared you are. All gangsters start out as newly inducted freshbloods, which quickly and easily rank up to soldiers (10 KP). Captains (25 KP) head crews of soldiers and freshbloods while Moles (25 KP) are appointed by the Boss or Right-Hand to infiltrate a rival gang. The Right-Hand (45 KP) is second only to the Boss (65 KP) and is the only one who may succeed the title to that particular gang. Gangsters may also branch off from their original gang to become the Boss of a brand new gang (75 KP). Characters may join an existing gang mid-game as freshbloods. FOR SKY PIRATES,Similar to the gangsters, the notoriety of a pirate is based on how much karma they have. New members may join as either fledglings, a monkey man, or monkey woman. They may then rank up to the specialty stations of Ship's Doctor (15 KP), Ship's Navigator (15 KP), or Master Gunner (15 KP) if they so choose. Characters may also swap their specialty rank for twenty-five karma points. Quartermasters (30 KP) are second-in-command and can raise a mutiny for seventy-five karma points if they have a two-thirds majority of crew in support of leading a mutiny against a current captain. A successful mutiny will result in the Quartermaster becoming the Captain of that ship. In order to become a Captain of your own ship, you need fifty karma points and you must purchase your own ship. When a captain receives 75 karma points, they can then be voted in as the new king or queen of the pirates. Characters may join the sky-pirates mid-game as fledglings. FOR H.A.W.K.s,The H.A.W.K.s are the only group with a more rigid ranking system. Your character must continuously purchase ranks if you want them to achieve a rank. For example, if your character is an airman and you want him to be a lieutenant, he must become a captain first. Their karma points denote their prowess and accomplishments as ideal military personnel. Characters may join the H.A.W.K.s mid-game as groundlings. FOR OTHERS,Karma is meant to represent how famous and notorious a person is. The more karma you have, then the more likely other characters will know who your character is. |
