Means of communication and transportation are very limited. However, in other ways the technology is very progressive due to the miraculous properties of aether. NO: YES: ABOUT TECHNOLOGY IN THE HOME, The capability of a household is relevant to where the house actually is. In the Down Below, the only two places where electricity and indoor plumbing are a sure thing are Hogwash and all of Elysia. There is some electricity and indoor plumbing in Junkyard Downs, Ravageland, and Lawless, but not in every home. The majority of the people in Junkyard Downs, Lawless, and Ravageland rely on buckets of undrinkable water for bathwater and dish-washing, and a bucket to take care of their business. Stoves are not electrical but old fashioned; most people cook over a fire place. Since electricity is considered very precious, electrical appliances, with the exception of refrigerators, do not exist. Electricity in THE BLUE is obtained through solar and wind energy. ABOUT WEAPONS, In THE BLUE, weapons can be as unique or as plain as you like. Anything you consider a weapon in our world is also a weapon in THE BLUE. However, there are some limitations when it comes to weapons. Guns are given to H.A.W.K and gang members upon initiation. When the member leaves the group, they must hand over the gun otherwise they will be hunted down and the gun will be taken from them by force. It is also common for a H.A.W.K, especially a groundling, to carry a sword. Civilians under the rule of a gang may not own guns by law. However, that does not stop most civilians from owning a gun; they just hide the fact they own one from the gangsters. Your character may not join with a weapon unless they are a H.A.W.K, gangster, sky pirate, mercenary, bounty hunter, or hunter. All players must purchase weapon slots for their characters with KP (the KP is not subtracted from your account), and weapons for their characters with venny. ABOUT TRANSPORTATION, There is no such thing as public transportation in Khthonia, nor Elysia. If you need to get somewhere, you are expected to take a horse-drawn carriage, a car, motorcycle, machina, hovercraft, aerial, dirigible, or airship. That is, unless you simply walk. The only exception to this is the shuttle that allows Elysians to travel to the different floating islands (except for Garvan, the Rat's Nest). Khthonians cannot travel to The Upside unless they have a way up there. Every month, there is a shuttle that comes down from The Upside. But the only way that a Khthonian can get on the shuttle is to buy the grossly-expensive tickets that disclose its hidden location. The location changes monthly. ABOUT FOOD, All crop, meat, dairy products, and fish are genetically altered to withstand the climate changes that Khthonia has undergone. The people of Down Below eat a lot of rice, bread, soy, potatoes, and pasta, since wheat and rice are the sturdiest crops. Fruit and vegetables are a luxury, and the majority of all fruits and vegetable crops are grown in The Upside on small islands. Meat, fish, and dairy are incredibly expensive and Khthonians only tend to get the meat products the people of Elysia consider dirty. Dairy products are incredibly processed and usually come in powdered or oil-based form in Khthonia. All birds are considered sacred by Aureolites and socially are never eaten except by non-believers. ABOUT PLANTS, Plants are a rarity in Khthonia, but are abundant in Elysia. Khthonia, for the most part, is all desert and junkyard. There will be the rare cactus, oasis, and even grasslands but both the oasis and grasslands are dangerous. Flowers are seen as incredibly precious, which is why Khthonians who are religious will give flowers as an offering to Aureole. However, flowers are plenty in Elysia. Indeed, flowers are so precious to Khthonians, that one of the ways to propose marriage in Khthonia is to present a woman with a bouquet of real flowers. This especially is the case for when an Elysian man falls in love with a Khthonian woman. |
