On the request of some members, I have decided to make this tutorial so that future members will find their first experiences on THE BLUE as enjoyable as possible! I understand that there is a lot of material for people to read, so please consider this little tutorial the cliff notes to joining the site! READING MATERIAL: As I said before, there is a lot of material on the site to read. However, there are definitely some things that you can read after you have your character application up. The following are the things that you should read before making a character application: the story, the rules, the races, occupations, technology, and character creation rules. If you want your character to be a racer, then you should read about the racing system. If you want your character to be a gangster, noble, or sky pirate then you should read about the karma system. THE C-BOX: Believe me, I know how intimidating a c-box can be. Especially if it’s fast-paced, or if the subject is always changing, or if it looks like people are really close. However, there’s something really important you need to know about our c-box: we are one of the friendliest, welcoming, and easily excitable bunch of people you will ever meet. Most of us have just met on the site, and although we may seem like we’ve been friends for a while I can honestly say that I met most of the people who are active on the c-box during the opening two weeks of THE BLUE. And you know what? Our family just keeps on getting bigger, and bigger, because we like dragging people into the c-box and making friends. Please know that I am sincerely saying this on behalf of the entire site: we are happy you are here, and we’d like nothing more than to be your friend. THE APPLICATION: Before you post your application, make sure you look it over! You’d be surprised the things that people forget. I’ve had to hold off on accepting amazing applications because the player forgot to mention the weight in the physical description, or were short a personality trait (five is the minimum), or forgot that a mutant can only have one enhanced ability. AFTER ACCEPTANCE: Many players tend to get confused on what to do when they’re finally accepted. First, if you want to be able to buy things, receive items and venny from contests, etc. then you must create a character inventory. You should also create a plot page but unlike the inventory, it is not required. It’s also important to introduce yourself so that everyone can say hello to you and get to know you! THE STORY: You should think about your character’s goals, and what you as the player can do to go about achieving those goals. Try and make connections with other players whose characters could help your character reach their goal. Think about friends as well as antagonists, and never be shy about making contact with other players. You should check out the wanted board to see if any players need people for their character’s plots. THE POSTS: Please look for open posts that you can reply to before you decide on making an open post of your own! Feel free to PM someone and ask if you can join in their thread if it’s open but someone else has already replied. If there are no open posts, then start your own post. If it’s not getting any attention, don’t be afraid to look through the character profiles and plot pages to find someone to invite to your thread. Everyone is very friendly and open, and we all enjoy RPing with each other. And that’s all there is to it! We look forward to role playing with you! |
